Identify Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) and Restore Gut Balance
Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO) occurs when bacteria that normally reside in the large intestine migrate to the small intestine, disrupting digestion and nutrient absorption. This overgrowth can lead to uncomfortable symptoms like bloating, flatulence, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and constipation. If left untreated, SIBO may contribute to conditions such as leaky gut syndrome, food intolerances, fatigue, and autoimmune disorders.
The SIBO Test by GetTested is a non-invasive breath test that detects bacterial overgrowth by measuring hydrogen and methane gas levels, which are produced when bacteria ferment carbohydrates in the small intestine. Understanding whether hydrogen or methane is dominant is key to determining the appropriate treatment strategy. This test is often paired with the Gut Microbiome XL Test for a more comprehensive view of gut health.
Who Should Take This Test?
This test is ideal for individuals experiencing:
Persistent bloating and excessive gas
Abdominal pain or cramps
Diarrhoea, constipation, or alternating bowel movements
Nutritional deficiencies despite a healthy diet
Fatigue, brain fog, and food sensitivities
Research suggests that nearly 80% of IBS sufferers have underlying bacterial overgrowth, making SIBO testing crucial for those with unexplained digestive discomfort.
